On the morning of Monday, November 14th, Delbarton’s Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive will begin. Last year, we as a community, collected over 50,000 pounds of food, and we hope to do even more this year. Here’s how you can help.

The collection location is a building previously used as a church, near the South Gate entrance and Jockey Hollow. Just before turning onto Sugarloaf Road (which connects 40 Acres Fields and South Gate), there is a parking lot on the left. Bring all of your food there.

As for what food we need, we can always use more cans of fruits, vegetables, beans, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, jelly, soup, broth, tuna, and salad dressing. Please do not bring rice, grains or other perishable foods.  Please, avoid glass containers as well. The best way to contribute is to get the biggest cans of food possible, and lots of them. I recommend wholesale clubs like Costco, BJs, and Sam’s Club.

Collections take place at the church every day from the 14th through to Thanksgiving break, before and after school, with the exception of after school on November 22. In addition to bringing food, you can also help unload food and pack it away at the church. We always have hot chocolate and snack foods, which makes the work go that much easier.

Needless to say, all of this food that we collect will go to people in the Morristown area who desperately need it. Yet, if you still need more motivation, the deanery that brings in the most food will get breakfast sandwiches as a reward.

The Thanksgiving Food Drive will be amazing this year, but we need everyone to contribute. We only have one week (Nov. 14-22) to meet out goal of 50,000 pounds.  Please, bring as much food as possible to help your neighbors in need.
