Villanova’s Journey

Villanova's Journey

Villanova apparel and logos are common sights in the hallways and parking lots of Delbarton. Whether you support the Wildcats or not, the gravity of the NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship tomorrow at 9:10 ET cannot be disputed.

Jay Wright and his squad have already proven that Villanova is not prone to annual losses in the Round of 32, after they emerged from the South Division with wins over college basketball Giants like Miami, Kansas, and Oklahoma. Arguably the most stunning performance from the Wildcats came Saturday after their 44-point victory over Buddy Hield and Okhlahoma. After Hield’s three pointer immediately after the tip, it seems as if Villanova’s collective defense shut down the Sooners completely. The boys from Philadelphia more than redeemed themselves after their 20-point loss to Oklahoma in the beginning of the season.

Part of what makes Villanova so effective against high-caliber teams like Oklahoma is their ability to work as a unit. Their team chemistry is second to none, and each player on the court seems to consistently know where his teammates are.

Josh Hart, in a post game interview summed up this season’s mentality of the Wildcats, as he explained how they “fed off the defense…” and “we were committed to the game and dialed in defensively.”

Villanova is looking to repeat their success of 1985 and take home the championship this year by defeating North Carolina tomorrow. Villanova fan or not, it will be “one for the ages.”
