“Double Take” Exhibit 2017
November 17, 2017
On Friday, November 10th, Caitlin Servilio, and Terri Fraser opened their exhibit; “Double Take.” If you don’t know already, Ms. Servilio has been one of the very talented Art teachers at Delbarton for the past two years. Ms. Servilio earned her BA in Studio Art from American University and her MLIS from Rutgers. Ms. Terri Fraser attended Ohio Wesleyan University and received a BA in Fine Arts. Both are talented artists, and worked very hard on their beautiful exhibit; “Double Take.”
In this exhibit, Ms. Servilio and Ms. Fraser take on the challenge of painting the same image, but interpreting it differently. Ms. Servilio approached her paintings by adding colorful highlights, using surrounding elements to determine the color of objects in the painting and interpreting the image in a modern and abstract way. Ms. Terri Fraser approached her paintings by adding features of nature, using “found materials” as a canvas, and adding texture to many of her paintings. Ms. Servilio was asked last spring if she wanted to showcase some of her art at Delbarton. She accepted the offer and asked Terri to join the exhibition. On November 10th, The opening reception was held from 6-8 in the evening, giving guests plenty of time to view the art and have a relaxing night at Delbarton.
Even if you were unable to attend the opening event, you are more than welcome to tour the exhibit in the Fine Arts Center. It is currently on display and is open to the public throughout the school day. I am very lucky to have Ms. Servilio as an art teacher, and looking forward to learning more about her approach towards art, and how I can become as good as she is!
