Delbarton Memories #5

As I close my “Delbarton Memories” segment, I would like to close with a recent memory from the early part of my senior year.

At the end of our first day of school, Karman Sandhu and I decided that it would be enlightening and enriching to walk around campus on our last, first day of school. At first, I hesitated to accept the offer, as it brought forth a great deal of emotion as we walked the beautiful and green grounds of Delbarton. We started by walking around the senior garden. We went up to each of the Greek sculptures and reflected on the beautiful landscape and nature. Then, we walked around the area surrounding the Abbey and Cafeteria and made our way to Upper Abbey Field. From there, we walked around the Abbey Cemetery, Lower Abbey Field, and ultimately made our way back to Trinity Hall and Old Main.

Throughout this walk, Karman and I reflected on our time at Delbarton and all the events and moments that we had experienced throughout our short six years. Whether it be science class with Mrs. Chamberlain, our Freshman Projects, or Middle School sports, every moment at Delbarton impacted us. It was incredibly emotional and enlightening to view the campus on such a beautiful and crisp day and reflect on my time here. During these past few months, I have been given the opportunity to reflect on such moments through these articles, interviews with faculty, and retreat reflections. I am incredibly grateful to have been able to attend and experience Delbarton. All of the teachers, coaches, and members of the monastic community have impacted me in a profound and authentic way. I look forward to what’s to come, and I hope you were all able to take a little piece of my time at Delbarton through these reflective and memorable pieces.
