A Senior Reflects on Homecoming 2021

Michael Noonan, Staff Writer

Homecoming was an incredible senior experience. After last year’s Homecoming got canceled, the council and I were very excited to plan the first Homecoming since the pandemic and hoped to renew the tradition. I was very impressed with the turnout we received at Homecoming with extremely large numbers of alumni coming back to see their school. From a senior’s perspective, it was a wonderful flashback to freshman year. I remember my first Homecoming at Delbarton and how awesome the festivities as well as the crowd was. It finally felt like Delbarton had returned to its normal form. It was also more surreal as the senior football players that ran out of the tunnel of students were kids that I have known for four years. Everything about Homecoming felt a little different because it was going to be my last. Everything from the tailgate to the game was awesome, yet I was trying not to let myself dwell on the fact that I would never be a student at a Delbarton Homecoming ever again. Still, it was incredible to lead the students down the hill and run onto the field. I had seen many senior councils lead the student section and doing it with my senior council was a great experience. Overall, Homecoming was a success and was one of the main reasons the Delbarton experience is so incredible. It is always a hallmark event in the fall season and I am very glad to have been a part of it.
