As a Catholic, Benedictine school, Delbarton provides students with an environment and resources to help a student develop their relationship with God. One of these resources, recently introduced, is the Hallow App.
“Hallow App”, founded by Alex Jones in 2018, combines meditation with prayer to help people understand and grow their relationship with God. Alex Jones grew up Catholic, but lost his connection with God and the Church in young adulthood. This strain came from his inability to communicate with God. Alex then discovered meditation, and recognized an intersection between meditation and faith. In response to this epiphany, Alex formed a team and began learning about the tradition of prayer and meditation in the Church. The culmination of this research is the Hallow App, which helps Catholics grow closer to God in a variety of ways.
The Hallow App provides listeners with an assortment of prayers. Every day, Hallow App members can pray the Rosary, reflect over the Gospel during Lectio Divina, and listen to homilies by different priests. The Hallow App also teaches Catholics about the faith. The app does this by lessons about the Saints, access to the Bible, and stories from inspirational figures about their spiritual journey. The Hallow App is not all about lessons, however, as the app showcases Christian music and holds trivia contests.
During the month of October, Delbarton held the Hallow App Challenge in honor of October being the month of the Rosary. From October 1 to October 31, students in each gradewere able to compete for prizes in three categories: Longest streak, most days prayed, and most minutes prayed.
The Hallow App Challenge was a great opportunity for Delbarton students to have fun with their brothers and grow closer to God.
