On April 11, 2025, the Delbarton School hosted its 7th Annual Science Fair. The event consisted mostly of presentation posters made by the middle schoolers whose research projects were evaluated for various awards. The 7th and 8th graders have been working hard on their projects with their teachers, learning how to develop research abilities and presentation skills. Most importantly, the 2025 Delbarton Science Fair was a huge success! Not only were their parents and teachers at the exhibits, but a lot of Delbarton high school students who wanted to show their support for their younger brothers. Anyone interested in the STEM programs at Delbarton can also contact Mr. Theroux for further information.
The Delbarton Robotics team had great 2024-2025 seasons. With a team of intelligent and creative engineers, they were able to design and code a robot that took the team to the NJ State Championships which helped them earn 3rd place overall in States. At the Delbarton Science Fair, participants were able to see the robot that the team has built and learn more about its functions.
High School Science Projects: At the high school, the research projects become much more advanced and dove deeper into the art of science. Around the gym, participants were able to explore science-winning posters such as Kevin Jin’s project on “How Chebulinic Acid Targets Protein Biomarkers and Lipid Imbalance in Alzheimer’s Disease” and Michaels Xu’s project on tree-planting drones that are specially developed for “Extended-Range Flight for Autonomous Large-Scale Reforestation”. These science projects serve as a great way to inspire future Delbarton students to conduct research in the scientific field.
The Award Ceremony: All the middle school students at the science fair worked extremely hard to prepare their projects to be judged by fellow teachers and other Delbarton students. At the end of the fair, 11 students were selected to receive awards for their outstanding work as listed below:
Best in Biology Award: Michael Simunovich
Best in Engineering Award: Bob the Builder Award: Lucas Lacz
Best in Chemistry Award: John Matter
Best in Environmental Studies Award: Maxwell Lin
Best in Physics Award: Nikhil Sheth
Best in Psychology (the Mad Scientist) Award: Ronan Kamilla
Da Vinci Award (most embodies the spirit of Da Vinci with a creative blend of scientific fields): Aiden Paul
No Bell Prize (most original project; approaches a problem in a novel way): Owen McLane
The “Thoreau” Award (project with the biggest humanitarian/social impact): Gavin Pasic
The “Uber Presenter” Award (best oral presentation and graphical display): Bandon Brucato
The Will Li Award (for achievement in science research at Delbarton): Kevin Jin
We hope that everyone had a great time and are looking forward to seeing more amazing science projects at next year’s Delbarton Science Fair!
