Congratulations to the staff of the Delbarton Courier for a memorable year! This year saw us break the record for the most articles published in a single year. We broke this record thanks to our editors-in-chief this year, Michael Barravechio and Kevin Jin, who worked hard and devised changes to our club structure to promote growth and expansion.
As the editors-in-chief for next year, Christian Barravecchio and I are looking to build off the success of this year while also implementing new club policies to expand our readership. Here are some of the ideas that we had for the Delbarton Courier of 2025-2026.
Create a Printed Newspaper at the End of Each Month
Each month we will aggregate all the articles that we wrote in the previous month to form a newspaper. In addition to articles, the newspaper will also include crossword puzzles and other fun interactive activities for the reader that are not available on a digital platform. We will then distribute the newspaper to the student body before school and during homeroom. We hope that the introduction of a hybrid model for the Courier will combine the convenient and maneuverable option of the website with the interactive experience that a physical paper can give.
Put up Promotional Posters Around School
On the poster boards that are present in all three levels of Trinity Hall, we will put up leaflets that have a written message that gives instructions for how to join the Courier and for how to access the website, as well as a QR code that brings the person straight to the website. This way, a student can see the sign, take out their phone, scan the QR code, and instantly be able to access the articles on the Delbarton Courier.
Recruitment of Writers
Through placing advertisements on the morning announcements and on the printed newspapers, the Delbarton Courier will prioritize the recruitment of writers from all grades and aspects of Delbarton life. We will attempt to recruit both full time writers and also one-time writers to write about their experiences in a certain event we are covering. The Delbarton Courier hopes to epitomize the saying “Many hands make light work,” so that the Courier can write a prodigious amount of articles next year while also establishing a strong staff for future school years.
We hope that these ideas can lead to a successful year for the Courier! If any readers or staff members have ideas for the Courier make sure to let us know either at the next meeting or by reaching out to Christian or I. Have a great summer!
