A Healing Advancement: Fall Edition

Chris Whelan, Sports Editor

As Fall sports are now underway for the Green Wave, football players, soccer players, and cross country runners are in the thick of their seasons. Day in and day out, it is mandatory that each athlete gives one hundred percent, physically and mentally, to ensure that the team reaches its highest potential performance. During this grind, however, it is only natural that an athlete may pull a muscle, cramp, bang knees, or twist an ankle. For the walking wounded, have no fear- the Delbarton Athletic Training Staff has upped their game this year.

Over the summer, a transformation took place in the wrestling room (or closet). What was previously a dimly lit area many students had never stepped foot in before, is now “command central” for those in need of treatment. Therapy tables, equipment, machines and spacious hardwood floors for exercises are at the disposal to those who work with the Delbarton Trainers.

The new trainer’s room, from a team perspective, could in fact be the difference between a winning and losing season for the Green Wave Fall sports squads. As schedules carry on, small injuries, especially with the more physical sports such as football and soccer, are what wear a team down. Tweaked ankles, strained muscles, and back spasms can eventually escalate to season-ending injuries. Many times, these injuries could have been prevented.

With the new trainer’s room fully functioning and the expert guidance of the Green Wave staff, the percent of season ending injuries will most definitely be decreased, that is, if the athletes are wise enough to utilize this resource.

Good luck to all Green Wave squads this fall, and stay tuned for a winter edition of “A Healing Advancement.”
