Delbarton Instrumental Concert
Dozens of people gathered in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium for an evening of music. November 20th marked the annual Delbarton Fall Instrumental Concert.
The brass ensemble was up first, conducted by Mr. Gregory Devine. They played three pieces before handing the stage over to the flute choir who played a beautiful rendition of Let There Be Peace on Earth. The flute choir was led by Ms. Prudence Wiedemann.
The woodwind ensemble was up next. They played The Deep River and Tarantella. Mr. John Di Egidio conducted this group. The jazz ensemble rocked the stage, performing three great songs. Alex Eichler (‘16), Nick Eichler (‘19), and Austin Terchek (‘17) all had solos for the jazz ensemble. Alex Luo (‘19) accompanied the jazz ensemble on piano for two pieces, while Nicholas Gritz (‘21) accompanied the last piece. Gritz also performed a solo piano selection after the jazz ensemble was done. He played Three Fantasies Op. 16 by Felix Mendelssohn.
After this, the percussion ensemble took the stage. Directed by Ms. Celine Fitzpatrick, they played Antiphon for Double Percussion Choir as their selection. The Wind Ensemble closed the night with three pieces. Mr. Andrew Aslanian (associate director) conducted two wind ensemble pieces while Mr. Gregory Devine (director) conducted one piece.
All in all, it was a great evening filled with wonderful performances. 6 ensembles performed, and a combined 73 students performed as well. A special thank-you to Abbot Richard, Br. Paul Diveny, Mr. David Blazier, the Delbarton Arts Council, the stage crew, and all the conductors and performers. The next instrumental concert will be the Christmas concert on Sunday, December 20th, at 7pm in the Delbarton Fine Arts Center.
