Coffeehouse: A Grand Hit

Nick Diana

On January 23, Delbarton hosted its second Coffeehouse of the 2014-2015 school year.  As this was the only second time the event took place in the Fine Arts Center rather than Old Main, the coordinators wisely decided to shift the stage to the opposite side of the room.  This allowed for the audience to see the performers even from the exit, and not block anyone’s view while entering the room.

Per usual, the night started out with the Rock Band.  Coordinated by Mr. Pieraccini and consisting of multiple individual bands, the Rock Band meets once a week to prepare for the Coffeehouse.  The Rock Band’s excellent performance which included Miami 2017 by Billy Joel, Slither by Velvet Revolver, Nine in the Afternoon by Panic at the Disco, and Dani California by The Red Hot Chili Peppers.  Afterwards, John Paciga ‘18 played piano to and sung Billy Joel’s “And so it Goes.”

After the Rock Band, Under the Eight Ball their songs.  Next, Kyle Dudzinksi ’17 and his partner performed an acoustic guitar duet of “Demons” by Imagine Dragons and “Yellow” by Coldplay.  Chris Beute ’15 and student body president Brian Monaghan made an appearance and battled over two pianos, creating fantastic music.  Later in the night, Michael Berry ’15 played a game with the audience.  He played a tune on the piano, and the first audience member to shout out the correct song won a Coffeehouse T-Shirt.

To wrap up the night, Mike Berry’s band, Inner Vision, played their original, amazingly crafted music.  Their songs carried on for quite sometime, but during every minute of it, the audience was astounded by the spectacular instrumentals.
