What does Faraday Future’s New Car Mean for Tesla and the Electric Car Industry?

Danny Maguire, Co-Editor

For months a company by the name of “Faraday Future” has been puzzling automobile fans and car companies. The company itself is mysterious; no one is entirely sure how exactly it got started up, or much else about it. Their employees have apparently been poached from Tesla and other companies. They were even more mysterious about revealing their first car until Monday, January 4th, at CES 2016 (that’s Consumer Electronics Show, just so you know). They didn’t give anyone any information about it before that; the world barely saw it at all. But it certainly was a grand reveal.

The car is a one-seater, and its headlight is the coolest unibrow you’ve ever seen. It’s called the FFZERO1. The company claims it goes over 200 mph and can accelerate from 0-60 in under 3 seconds. So, it’s pretty much a race car. But the coolest part? It’s all-electric, baby. Only Tesla Motors has ever produced an electric vehicle as powerful as this, with their Roadster, Model S, and Model X. So, what does this car mean for Tesla?

Not much. The FFZERO1 is just a concept car; it won’t go into production. So no, unless you’re really rich, you won’t be able to buy it. Sorry.

Of course, Faraday will come out with a production car soon, if their plans turn out well. They’re even building a billion dollar factory right now, in preparation. So, in order to see the real future of Faraday Future, we’ll have to wait several more years. And by then, Tesla will probably already have come out with their Model 3, the car priced for the average American. In doing so, Tesla could easily become a top, top auto company in sales. And Faraday will be late to the game.
