Fantasy Football Week 6 Preview

Pierce Munsey, Staff Writer

Welcome to the Week 6 Edition of Delbarton’s Fantasy Football Corner! This week, the Panthers and Buccaneers will be starting their game at 9:30 ET, so make sure to set your lineups early. With that being said, I’m just going to dive right into my trade target for this week.

TRADE TARGET: DAMIEN WILLIAMS (RB)

Damien Williams has disappointed this year mainly due to injuries. However, in his first game back after a two-week injury, he still only put up 6.8 PPR points. I presume that many Williams owners are pessimistic about his outlook. They’ve already had to keep him sidelined, and in the three games he played, he only eclipsed 9 PPR points once (18.5 Week 1 vs. JAX). The Kansas City Chiefs have a stellar offense, but they struggled on Sunday Night Football against Indianapolis. This was the first game that they failed to put up 28 points this year, but I do not expect this trend to continue. Patrick Mahomes has continued his flashy play to show that last season was not a fluke. Also, Football Outsiders still has them ranked as the second-most efficient offense in the NFL, only behind the Cowboys. For those worrying about Williams possibly being in a “committee”, don’t. Last week, LeSean McCoy totaled zero carries and was on the field for 34% fewer plays. In fact, Kansas City’s second-leading rusher against Indy was Mahomes. In addition, Williams caught 3 of 4 targets, which is a nice bonus for PPR leagues. I know that some may think that LeSean McCoy was dealing with an ankle injury the week leading up to the game, and that may be why he did not get as much playing time. However, Andy Reid informed the media that McCoy did not see the field often because of his ineffectiveness at pass-blocking. If McCoy, at 31 years old, still has not mastered pass-blocking, he most likely will not learn it during the season. Although Williams hasn’t had much production yet, his volume is going to make up for it.
