On Tuesday, January 27, Delbarton welcomed its newest Green Wave students and their families at the annual Accepted Students and Family Reception. As a current student helping lead the event, it was exciting to watch the first moments of what will soon become a shared Delbarton experience for the Classes of ’30 and ’32.
Accepted students were greeted with cheers and high fives from current students and received Green Wave hats, immediately setting a tone of school pride and brotherhood. Inside the Fine Arts Center Auditorium, the evening opened with remarks from Fr. Michael and Mr. Ross that highlighted what defines a Delbarton education: the pursuit of excellence supported by a strong and welcoming community.
A panel of current students on the Council of Seniors then shared personal insights into life at Delbarton, representing athletics, campus ministry, leadership, the arts, and academics. Their reflections offered incoming students an honest look at daily life on campus, while parents gathered in Old Main to begin building connections of their own.
The second half of the evening featured interactive activities led by student leaders. Through games and friendly competitions, accepted students met one another and quickly grew more comfortable on campus. The energy and laughter throughout these rotations reflected how naturally community forms at Delbarton.
The night concluded with families visiting the Delbarton Shop and heading to dinner together. Meeting the newest members of the Green Wave was a meaningful reminder that this reception is more than a welcome. It is the first step in a journey rooted in connection, growth, and brotherhood.W
