Pierce Munsey

Welcome back to Pierce’s Picks! This week, I’m going to be analyzing a Tennessee Titan who I have already picked up in my league.

ADD: Corey Davis (WR, Tennessee Titans)

Davis is coming off a tremendous Week 8 performance against the Bengals, as he totaled 27.8 PPR points in a loss to Cincinnati (ESPN). This is the first time this season Davis has eclipsed 20 points, but he did miss two games after he contracted COVID-19 (Yahoo Sports). However, even with his brief absence, he is the 33rd ranked WR this year (ESPN). Obviously, this number is understated since he is averaging 17.2 points per game, which if he stayed healthy throughout the year, would have put him at WR8 (ESPN). Despite only having two touchdowns on the year, Davis is performing well in fantasy as he has been extremely consistent. In fact, his lowest point total this year is 11.9 points (ESPN).

Also, Ryan Tannehill has quietly put up an impressive number of touchdowns, as his 17 passing TDs rank the fifth most in the NFL. Critically, he threw for seven touchdowns in the two games Davis missed, which suggests that Davis will be primed to score, as he has been targeted in the red zone more than all the other Tennessee Titans’ receivers COMBINED in the last two weeks. Since Davis has a safe floor, he should be put in a FLEX spot most weeks, especially when considering his scoring upside. Still, I’d be hesitant to start him against a staunch Chicago defense—the Bears have allowed the third-fewest points to WRs this season (ESPN). However, I would recommend adding him to your roster since his explosive Week 8 performance will likely get the attention of other fantasy owners. Overall, Davis being owned in only 56.3% of ESPN leagues is something that every owner should be capitalizing on as the fantasy playoffs approach.

I emphasize the fact that the regular season is coming to a close because Davis has a very favorable schedule in the playoffs. In a good number of leagues, the playoffs start as early as Week 13, which means that Davis will be going up against the Browns, Jaguars, and Lions in the playoffs. Davis will have three huge opportunities to put up league-winning numbers since all those teams are in the bottom-third percentile in regards to points allowed (The Football Database). Furthermore, the Lions are giving up 248 passing yards per game, the Browns are giving up 264 per game, and the Jaguars have allowed the most per game with 281 yards (Team Rankings). In conclusion, Davis is a solid investment for both the short-term and the long-term.
