The Formula 1 2026 season begins on March 6. Unlike the 2025 season, there will be changes in the cars, drivers, and teams. This is the season we have all been waiting for! In this article, I will cover the major events and changes in the 2026 Formula 1 season. So, strap in and start up those engines and get ready for some speed!
First, we will start with the cars. In 2026, the cars will be lighter and more aerodynamic. They will be even more agile and environmentally safe. The cars will run on a more sustainable fuel that is better for the environment. Also, the tires in the front of the car will be more narrow compared to the 2025 cars to reduce weight and drag. The cars are built to be more aggressive and harder to drive due to variations in handling. This will make the drivers work harder to compete. Also, there will be no more “Drag Reduction System” in the cars next season. “Manual Override Mode” will be the “new” DRS next year. Manual Override mode will be similar to DRS when attempting to overtake other drivers. This mode will give the car an electric boost to make overtaking easier by increasing speed with the hybrid engine. Due to the more electrical systems in the car’s engine, this will result in a faster Formula 1 car.
Now, we will discuss the teams for next season. As you may know, Kick Sauber is no longer Kick Sauber. The team has renamed the team to “Audi Formula 1 team.” This will mark the end of the Sauber name after 32 years. The team will be led by drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto. Also, Cadillac Formula 1 team is making their Formula 1 debut at the very start of the season. Cadillac is an American Formula 1 team who is the second new team to join the 2026 season. The team will be the 11th team on the grid instead of ten compared to the 2025 season. As a result, this will cause there to be two more drivers than the 2025 season. The team will be led by team principle Graeme Lowdon who will be the team leader in charge of the drivers and the members of the formula 1 team. The drivers of this team will be Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas. Both drivers are making a comeback from last season in 2025, as they were not there in Formula 1 last season.
Next, for the drivers for 2026: As it stands, we will have one rookie driver for this upcoming season. Avrid Lindblad will be racing for Racing Bulls f1 team with his teammate Liam Lawson. Avrid Lindblad is a British racing driver who has moved up into Formula 1 from Formula 2. He will make his Formula 1 debut at the start of this upcoming season. Isaac Hadjar will be replacing Yuki Tsonoada from Red Bull racing. Isaac Hadjar and his teammate Max Verstappen will be the drivers for Red Bull in 2026. Yuki Tsononada is no longer a full time driver. He will be a reserved driver for Redbull due to Isaac Hadjar taking his place.
Which leaves the key question, who is most likely to win the championship for the 2026 Formula 1 season. As it stands, George Russel has the fastest race car (Mercedes). He predicts that he will win the championship this season. George Russele along with his fast car and great talent has a chance to win the drivers championship and can potentially lead to a constructors championship for Mercedes. While it is impossible to say that George will definitely win the championship, he currently has the fastest car on the grid and could stand a chance to win his first championship ever in his Formula 1 career.
