Star Wars Episode VII

For the first time in over a decade, the Star Wars franchise is adding yet another film to the saga on December 17.  Chronologically, Episode VII, The Force Awakens, follows Episode VI, The Return of the Jedi (1983).  In terms of release date, however, Episode VII follows Episode III, Revenge of the Sith.  The most striking difference between Episode VII and the rest of the films is the new director.  For almost thirty years, George Lucas owned the title of director of the Star Wars films.  Now, JJ Abrams is utilizing his talents from films like Star Trek and Super 8 as he takes the reins of The Force Awakens.  For many Star Wars fans, the most exciting aspect is the return of three actors and characters: Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher as Leia, and Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker.  These actors have not been seen in a Star Wars film in over thirty-two years, and it is thrilling to see them on screen once again.  Abrams, and the producers, are keeping the audience on its toes as they refrain from revealing the plot.  As a result of the trailer, there have been several interpretations and theories as to the film’s plot.  One theory that excites me the most is Luke following the footsteps of his father and becoming a Sith Lord.  Either way, Episode VII will entertain the audience, at least more than Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones.
