A (totally) unbiased article on the undisputed Best Movie Ever!
The Bee Movie, first released in 2007, has become an undeniable classic! This is due to many factors such as its quotability, cast, and its iconic “villain.” With its upcoming twenty-year anniversary in 2027, its cultural impact is undeniable, as Bee Movie has shaped multiple generations.
The Cast
Bee Movie has one of the best casts, including, but not limited to, comedians like Chris Rock (known for his role as Marty the Zebra in Madagascar), Jerry Seinfeld (known for his TV show Seinfeld), and Kathy Bates (known for her role in Titanic). It also features celebrity cameos by Oprah Winfrey and Larry King. With this cast of greats, it’s no wonder the Bee Movie is a contemporary cult-classic.
The Best Pickup Line in Any Movie
The Bee Movie features some of the most quoted lines in fiction, such as:
Barry: “Ya like jazz?”
Vanessa: “He’s just a little bee, and he happens to be the nicest I’ve met in a long time!”
Ken: “Long time? What are you talking about? Are there other bugs in your life?”
Ken: “I prefer sugar-free, artificial sweeteners MADE BY MAN!”
With quotes like that, it is no wonder that the Bee Movie is quoted almost daily on social media. Specifically, “Ya like jazz?” has become almost a catchphrase whenever social media commenters point out awkward or cringey introductions.
The Most Justified Villain in All of Fiction
On a side note, I believe it is worth mentioning that Ken is the most justified villain in all of fiction. The running-gag that occurs alone is enough to justify this. Throughout the entire movie, he simply wants to spend time with his girlfriend and eat yogurt, but a literal bee steals his girlfriend. The bee, Barry B. Benson, spends time with Vanessa and begins a romantic relationship with her. Ultimately, Ken is just a misunderstood character with innocent intentions and simple desires, all ruined by a honey bee.
